The latest

Well, after busy months and endless requests for updates, this is the latest. Please check back for more.
Newsworthy stuff;

The Kidney Foundation Fundraiser dinner and meditation evening.
So, we had an ok turnout for the dinner and relax event and contacted local newspapers who decided to write about something completely different!!
homemade date and honey bread was served with tuna pasta and garlic bread, with caesar salad. I even made a vegan version, which was not my very best ever thing! Oh well. I made yummy cheesecakes however - 2 great big ones, so unfortunately I had the best one, a berry cheesecake that I am now wearing on my hips and butt. It was really good though. I also made a vegan fruit and filo pastry dessert that was actually quite yummy and low in sugar and fat.
It made up for the slightly iffy dinner and at least one vegan person went [...]

Road Trip 08

After my last wedding of the season, my friend Joseph drove down from Lansing, Michigan to Chicago.  He had quit his job and was moving to Los Angeles, driving the entire way.
This is my photography from that journey.

Wheat Fields On The Way To Kansas

After spending some time in Kansas we then continued onto Denver CO but got to see Giant Windmills for the first time in my life at 4 stories high, they’re much more grand to see in person.

After a certain point it started snowing…the weather got rough, but the sunsets were equally as beautiful:

Going through Colorado, we eventually made it to Utah where the scenery was a little more arid:

I decided to try and make a cool looking photo, but don’t try this at home…I was holding my $5000 D3 out the window of a [...]

Feeling Rightous And Jerky At The Same Time.

Today coming out of the parking lot of the grocery store at lunch I stopped at the red light. At the corner was a woman, roughly in her 30’s holding a sign, she was panhandling, not an unusual sight in California, no matter what the economic climate may be. What her sign said though made her probably one of the more prosperous panhandlers I’ve ever seen.
It simply said “Single mother, please help”.
In the long line of cars waiting at the light she walked down from window to window, each giving her some sort of bill. When she came to mine I was feeling might angry, and honestly, a bit ashamed at my own anger. You see, this woman had hit up 10 cars in line prior to mine. That was at least $10.00 that she had just earned in the 1 minute it took to walk the line. She knocked [...]

We Stood in Protest - Now Begins the Fight for Full Equality

There are moments in my life that will always stand still in my mind.  Saturday, November 15, 2008, in front of City Hall in San Francisco was one such moment. Gary and I join thousands of others, gay and straight, from all races and creeds, to stand together, in protest and unity, against the recent passage of Proposition 8.  This was a nationwide event, as similar protest gatherings were held at the same time across the states.

As my emotional reaction has been tempered somewhat by time since the Nov. 4th elections, I am now more resolved to focus on the positive effort to educate and to debate the reasons that civil rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation, cannot be impeded in this great country. That such an act is really a bad precedence for all of us.  In light of the driving for behind the anti same sex [...]

Is This What Tolerance Looks Like?

For the story behind the picture click below:
So much for the new liberal America: California voters put a stop to gay marriage - leaving 18,000 ‘married’ couples in doubt
I liked what one attorney said,
“There’s something deeply wrong with putting the rights of a minority up to a majority vote,” said Evan Wolfson, a gay-rights lawyer who heads a group called Freedom to Marry.

Victory’08 - for Candidates/Volunteers !

Hi everyone ,with almost just a week left for elections ,things need to speed up.Both campaigns are working day-night to get things done and win the most crucial and important election America has ever witnessed .Its so close that no one can predict whats next ..
Every day new turns and twists are witnessed .But its time to gear up …
In this post I want to give some tips to enhance the websites of candidates which can have more influential impact on people. This is the week when candidates running for various offices will receive maximum traffic since it has been launched ,its natural ..its like school exams, where students do their last moment studies ,,just in this case students are people ..they will be browsing by websites of all candidates running for various offices in their district …and deciding their verdict .Specially Independents/Confused voters and people who are not intending to [...]

I can see my breath in my apartment.

Holy crap, it should not be this cold in October. I finally got my bike tires inflated, my wheels centered and trued, my handle bars fixed, lights installed, and a good pair of gloves… only to find it hailing on my way to class. Gah!
I ended up going to Murphy’s to warm up for a while, and had some great convo with some fellow 452′ers.
Also, I know this week is really going to suck in terms of school-work load, but man this weekend is going to be TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
While you Champaign fools will be freezing it up between house parties and bars, I’ll be in the big San Fran all weekend, with a slight detour up to Davis for a 2000+ person block party!!! I’ll be the lady in the red trench coat and fedora. Yes, that’s right. Carmen Sandiego, bitches!
